Hamlet at The Helix - A Review.

Theatre critic Sylvia Huntley-Moore shares with Michael FitzGerald for Northside2Day her impressions of the Second Age Theatre Company’s current production of Hamlet, for which is full of praise.

She tells Michael how Marty Rea’s interpretation stands very favourable comparison with all the major actors she has seen in the title roles, but also lauds the other cast members, particularly Maeve FitzGerald (no relation) in the role of Ophelia.

Sylvia is equally impressed by the costumes, lighting, sound and recommends this production to all NEAR90-fm listeners.

Dublin City Development Plan - 2010.

The Dublin City Development Plan currently beinf examined and analysed by the Council is scheduled to run until 2017 and will have a significant impact on how the city centre and surrounding areas evolve physically, socially and economically.

In a full and open discussion with Michael FitzGerald for Northside2Day, Dublin North T|D, Darragh O Brien defends his call for the closure of so-called headshops as the most effective means of protecting vulnerable youngsters from the potential harms posed by untested substances sold by irresponsible traders sold by some of these shops.

While conceding that Ireland’s alcohol culture is a source of significant social ills in itself, Darragh, in a nod to the civil liberties side of the debate, indicates to Michael he would not lose much sleep over the proposal of allowing individuals to possess small amounts of marijuana for personal or medical use.
